Welcome to the RRPictureArchives.NET contributor site of Rich Varner.
My interest in taking railroad photos started during my early teens as I used to watch the Rock Island and Milwaukee trains pass by my house in eastern Iowa. In the early 70's, I made several trips to Silvis, Ill. to see the Rock Island shops.
I later lived in K.C., Mo., Alabama, Kentucky, then back to K.C., Mo., where I met my good friends Wes Rupe, Jack Rodkey and Bruce Hayden. Wes and I railfanned almost every weekend in K.C. in the 80's. Wes, Jack, Bruce and I also took several railfan trips out of town. Wes gave me several prints over the years and many of them I have scanned and posted to this site.
I later moved to STL but lived there only briefly before moving to Louisville, Ky. I currently live in Indiana. I enjoyed taking railroad pictures the entire time.
Most of the pictures I took were prints. I have a TON of prints that I have been working on scanning in and posting to this site. I have been posting only some of the better pictures I have.
Please enjoy looking thru some of my older pictures. I enjoy being able to share them!
You may browse my collection of pictures via the menu located on the left hand side of the page. I hope you enjoy the collection and thanks for stopping by!
